Mike purchased the graphic novel for me to read back in september. His intentions were to get me to read it before the movie came out but I think he was looking for another book for me to read since I finished Rick James autobiography. Which he bought to keep me distracted while he plays video games. Anyways I’ve been slowly chipping away at it every night before bed at his house. I pretty much finished it before we watched it yesterday, I had 4 pages remaining and the last 4 are insignificant to the main story. I’ve never read a comic book in my life so following this one was a little difficult. There are a ton of different characters, flashbacks, and mini subplots throughout the book that I got confused as to all the bitches that dr. manhatten had. The book would talk about one lady and then flashback to a different time which led me to think it was another lady. And I completely forgot how Ozymandais was when he reappeared in the book. Ozy what? jigga who?
The movie did a good job of tying together all the stories and it flowed well. It was cool recognizing different frames from the movie to pictures in the book. Theres a slight difference in the ending but I don’t think it takes away from the story. It was a lengthy movie but I was engaged and entertained the whole time. I’m glad I read it because I don’t think I would be interested if I didn’t. During the trailers he whispers to me at the end of X-Men Origins: Wolverine “That’s next” I should make him watch sisterhood of the traveling pants and we’ll call it even.
